William Shields

The host of 1st and 3rd is also a blogger, journalist, and photog. He makes you laugh, cry, and think. Starting out as an intern and Sports Flash personality voice for the Temple Sports Hour he moved onto his own show after a semester. Now he hosts and engineers his own Sports Radio show where you can listen to him talking about Philly and Temple sports.

William would like to express his deepest gratitude for his co-hosts, interns, and staff at WHIP who help make his show a constant success. It airs live every Tuesday and Thursday 2-3pm! Some of his guests included Harry Mayes of ESPN Radio, Temple Men's Basketball Assistant Coach Matt Langel, and Temple's Director of Athletics Bill Bradshaw.

Additional Information

Mr. Shields hates poetry calling it the idiot's feel-better method to English expression. A major fan of beautiful succinct prose, he is most influenced by Kurt Vonnegut Jr., John Updike, and Douglas Adams. His novel is set to be released in January of 2011.

He has a huge love and respect for people who are successful and in that vein enjoys people like Al Gore, Erno Rubik, and Larry Page and Sergey Brin. When not doing any creative expression he likes to hang out with his friends at various festivals. He also is an official Knight of Good in World of Warcraft. Mr. Shields loves his privacy and may take a reasonable amount of time to respond back to you. This is due to legal, ethical and time constraints. He thanks you for your understanding.
